Nye Industries prides itself on following all QBCC and government regulations when it comes to the installation and servicing of air conditioning systems in residential environments. Our top priority is that you are getting the correct air conditioner to better serve you and your family’s comfort and needs. Such air conditioning systems will be cost effective to operate, enhance your lifestyle and add value to your home, particularly in sunny Queensland.
To assist with your decision-making process, we have put together a “checklist” when considering and requesting air conditioning quotes. We hope this will serve as an added benefit so that you can compare “apples with apples”.
This checklist points out key features in our quotation process to ensure you have a better understanding of how Nye Industries will give you exactly the right air conditioning system to suit your needs. Other companies may differ in their quotation process to win jobs with undersized units, taking shortcuts with the installation, using inferior products, being unskilled, unlicensed or uninsured. We at Nye Industries ensure you are getting the correct sized unit, with all necessary equipment, that strictly adheres to the Australian Standards code and the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- SIZING OF THE AREA
Firstly, the area of the space/home to be air conditioned is measured by floor space and ceiling height. Getting these measurements correct is crucial in determining the correct sized air conditioning unit. If an undersized unit is installed it will not cool the area correctly in the heat of summer and will dramatically shorten the life of the A/C unit, not to mention the added energy costs due to the unit constantly working at maximum capacity unnecessarily. Technology has come a long way and air conditioners only use the power required to get to set temperature. ‘Inverter’ technology ensures that if sized correctly you will get 8 – 10 years out of a regularly serviced air conditioning unit. - HEAT LOAD CONSIDERATION
Heat load refers to the amount of heat that is generated in the room which dictates the capacity of the air conditioner unit required. This is determined by:- Size of room
- Number of occupants
- Roof type and if insulated or has cavity voids etc.
- Orientation of windows i.e.: western direction generates more heat.
- Outside shade i.e.: verandas/patios/trees etc.
- Heat generating equipment is the room (if any) for example: televisions, computers, ovens etc.
- MAINTENANCE
Regular servicing is vital in allowing the unit to run at its optimum, for better air quality (and health of you and your family). We won’t install your air conditioner and leave you to look after yourself. We will provide training and can arrange a regular servicing agreement.
We trust this will give you a better understanding of air conditioning sizing and why it is so crucial to ensure the right size unit is installed. Don’t worry, this is our area of expertise and we are here to help with the calculations!!
